Water savings of 25%?

That’s the impact City of Stirling Nursery is chasing after an irrigation overhaul.

  • City of Stirling nursery has achieved impressive results:
  • Drippers now deliver 0.38–1.9l/hour directly to root zones (down from 20l/hour).
  • Sprinkler uniformity has lifted from below 70% to 97%.
  • Plant health is more consistent across the site.

How did they do it?

With support from a levy-funded Extension Officer, APPS best practice standards and Nursery and Garden Industry Western Australia.

How you can do it, too

Fir real

Fir real - from 20% to 90% saleable trees with levy-funded support

When Lawrence Ranson started his Christmas tree nursery in the Blue Mountains in 2017, he didn't realise how strong Australia's levy model was - or how it could support him.

From mentoring to setting reading homework and simply asking why Spruced were doing things a certain way, GIA Extension Officer Colin Hunt introduced a best practice model to Spruced’s operations.

Now, the results speak for themselves.
